Read Psalm 130
Psalm 130 vs. 3-4
If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered. NRSV
When I was in school there was a memory gem they made us commit to heart that I have found very useful to this day:
“There is so much good in the worst of us and so much bad in the best of us that it behooves none of us to speak ill of the rest of us.”
The scriptures say (and we know it quite well) that none of us is blameless. Not one individual living on this planet is in a position to pass judgment on another because all of us are flawed in our behaviors in some form or fashion. God is the only one who is perfect. But yet, God does not write us off. He always gives us a chance to be reconciled- to correct our ungodly ways. We sin everyday unwittingly or deliberately. What then is the moral of the story? Go through life with a focus to improving yourself. Be forgiving of others and leave judgment to God. Judgment belongs only to God.
