2 Corinthians 4: 1-2
Therefore, since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart. We have renounced the shameful things that one hides; we refuse to practice cunning or to falsify God’s word; but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God. NRSV
The child of God is always under the integrity lamp. As such he cannot do as he pleases because he is accountable to God and his or her fellow human being. In this letter to the Corinthians Paul is making it plain that he is transparent in his undertakings; God is his ultimate judge and he is doing all that he does for the sake of the ministry. In this letter Paul has declared his hand and has no doubt silenced the naysayers, at least for a time. The thing with this life is, folk are always watching- all for different reasons. For the sake of the gospel we need to be honest. Also, we will be held accountable for misleading others. The scriptures say that no sin goes unpunished. Those who know better and do not do so will be beaten with many stripes. Stay on the right path and let your mantra be, “Honesty is the best policy.”
