Read Psalm 19

Verses 1-2
The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge.

I cannot read this Psalm or hear it read and not remember Harold Rhule, a lay preacher from my village church. This was Maas Har’s signature scripture and in its own simple way this scripture speaks to the beauty of the earth and God’s position as ruler and master over it. In symphony nature glorifies God and so too, must human beings. This scripture also reminds us that God’s law is perfect and needs no amendment. Verse thirteen speaks specifically to me, because in my line of word I encounter insolence on a daily basis. This type of situation can wear down your resolve and demoralize you. Rising above it is a mighty task and showing love in such situations seems near to impossible. And yet, regardless of what we face, we have to be mindful of Christ’s example and try to follow it.
