Romans 8: 15
For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry “Abba Father!”, It is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ-if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.
Children tend to take liberties with their parents that they dare not take with others. I remember getting commendation for how well my children behaved on the occasions that I left them in the care of others yet I was never able to speak to their angelic nature. Do not begin to second guess yourself like I have, wondering if I am a bad parent. Not at all! Children experience a comfort level with their parents that they do not necessarily experience with others. When you are comfortable you relax and let go. Likewise we can feel at home with our Father. We can get comfortable because we are not outsiders; we are with our Father who calls us His own and we are heirs and joint-heirs with Jesus. Fear is a thing of the past. We can cry out and our Father will be there- an ever present help in time of trouble. What more assurance do you want? This is as good as it gets. We belong! Thanks be to God!
