Acts 10: 36-38
You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ- he is lord of all. That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. NRSV
This is a message to those of us who are engaging in the ministry of the gospel without tarrying for the anointing of the Spirit of God. We are to remain steadfast in our quest for this anointing because we cannot do real ministry outside of the Spirit of God for it is he who equips us for service. I believe it is especially so in this modern era when the stress levels are so high and everything seems to be craving our attention; oh for that still small voice: peace be still! The Holy Spirit will help us keep our blinkers on in order for us to get God’s work done as a matter of urgency and first priority. With the peace of God within our hearts and the Holy Spirit enveloping and propelling us we will be enabled to do what God has called us to do.
